20th October

First outing
Neil and Jim teamed up for the first time at the Oakington Stages. Finishing a credible 24th overall despite still carrying their 100kg international rally weight penalty, the paring worked together well and are now looking forwards to the Wales Rally GB.

4th October

Promising results
Burgess and McColl were showing good form on the Trackrod rally in Yorkshire with David Hardingham, Neil & Ruth Cottingham and Johnny Brown in service. Unfortunately the steering arm broke two miles from the end of the last stage. At Brands Hatch Clarky had a torrid qualifying after a rear shock absorber tried to make a bid for escape. Progressing from his 13th position in qualifying, Clarky made good progress to finish 9th.

15th September

Super Crofty!!
Crofty turned in his best ever improvement on qualifying position at a hot and sunny Castle Combe this weekend. Qualifying
13th, Crofty proved his worth by battling up through the closely fought grid to secure a fantastic fifth place!

9th September

Painful Weekend
After qualifying third, Clarky was disappointed to retire from the first race at Brands with a puncture. The second race in the double header was to provide more drama after Clarky was punted off into the tyre wall at 60-70mph. Now suffering from bruising Clarky has a lot of work to do before the next round. Meanwhile Neil and Anna survived the first five slimey stages of the Ulster rally before retiring with a broken alternator bracket..

26th August

For England!
Neil, Anna and Mildred have been selected to represent England for the Nations Cup in the forthcoming Ulster rally. "This is such an honor" said Neil, "Mildred the Mini will be waving the St Georges cross on her roof with pride".

20th August

Roundy roundy games
Clarky stamped his authority on the Mini Se7en racing grid at Thruxton this weekend, taking pole by a large margin from the rest of the bulging grid. Unfortunately this was not to last as retirement reared its head during the race after a spark plug disintegrated. Crofty had a double-ding-dong-header
at Rockingham finally finishing both races in seventh position. Neil was off in Edinburgh competing in the 48 Hour Film Challenge, making a short film which will be shown at the Edinburgh Film Festival on Friday. Motorsport News today carries news of our WRC bid - see link on the homepage.

4th August

Mann what a weekend!
Three events, three results! Clarky finished in second place after a close race at Rockingham, while Crofty finished 11th at Cadwell.. Neil/Anna finished 3rd in class, also collecting the coveted "Spirit of the Rally" award in the 40th Manx International Rally. Finishing 31st overall and 9th in the PBRC finishers turned into a hard won achievement after electronic problems forced the team to literally push the Mini over he finish line!

13th July

Achy breaky Minis
The pile of broken Minis grows after Crofty's gearbox broke whilst qualifying in 8th at Mallory and Clarky stormed up the field to second place only for a hub to collapse on the last lap. Three sets of transmissions broken in two weekends, all of different specs. Ouch.

11th July

Jim Clark Memorial rally
The Jim Clark started with the Mini leading the entire International field!! Reverse seeding, new Ohlins chock absorbers and a new wheel and tyre combination put the Minis time on top of the tree until the F2000 Peugeot 206 of Ellya Gold and Kevin Plunkett pipped the Mini by 1.9 seconds. The rally was going well until the gearbox expired on SS16 despite the best spell casting of Adam Lyal (deceased).

17th June

Rally trauma Scottish Rally
Neil and Anna supported by Clarky, Matty Gray, Stuart Williams and Christian Malin comes to a dramatic end after rally car was rear-ended by non competing car on road section before SS1. Team bravely battled on but had to withdraw before first stage of leg two as a consequence of the incident.

9th June

Manic mixed weekend
Clarky shone at Spa by setting an astonishing 1.5 second pole in the Seven race. Leading for the first seven of eight laps, all his hard work came undone after the following pack slipstreamed their way past on the last lap. Falling back to seventh he finally finished fourth. Crofty was not so lucky with a DNF to his name after collecting substantial damage at Snetterton. Neil returned from touring the country on a motorised bed to become the official deputy pace car radio operator / driver at the ASCAR meeting on Sunday. The rally team is now preparing for next weekends Scottish rally

26th May

Clarky @ Combe
After qualifying eighth, Clarky had a flying start and was in second place buy the time he reached the first corner!!!! Unfortunately he had a little trouble though the 'S's' which left him in fourth. Clarky was in a battle for the rest of the race trying to get those positions back, dropping to fifth in the process but managing to regain fourth one lap from the end, just missing out on the podium!! Well done Clarky!! Matty (CBM Motorsport Mechie and now Media!)

18th May

Brighton Rocks
CBM Motorsport had a good presence at today's London to Brighton Mini run with Neil's Mildred featuring on the MiniWorld magazine stand and Crofty's Henry on the Mini Spares Centre stand.

10th May

Crofty increases pace
In only his second Super Mighty Mini meeting, Crofty qualified 9th in the field of 12 cars. In the race he quickly progressed through the field to hold 4th position and the fastest lap for the lions share of the laps. After an incredible amount of pressure from other drivers, Andy made an untimely visit to a gravel trap pushing him back to finish in 11th place. Bad luck but both the car and driver have now proved their speed.

4nd May

Things look up for Clarky
After problems with the car Clarky was forced to start the race at Croft on the back of the grid. Always one to watch when he has to make up places, Clarky soon moved from 18th place up to 8th position. Unfortunately after being mis-sighted at the fastest point of the circuit, Clarky found himself at the back of the field, climbing up to 12th position for a credible finish to a spectator entertaining race!

Bank holiday racing result & Today's Motorsport News
An article on page 13 of today's MN covers our www.ynil.com exploits..

Crofty had a superb outing at Brands Hatch - his first race with the Mini in "Super" specification. Qualifying and finishing 10th for the first race he then battled all race with many drivers including Geoff Taylor to finish 7th at the end of the second race. Not bad for a completely new setup! Clarky's woes continued. After a major racing incident elsewhere in the field, Clarky was in the great position of fourth for the restart. Unfortunately his Mini did not restart so back to the workshop.

Crofty's car is now in the more powerful Super Mighty Mini spec, working with Simax they now have the car on pace ready for Brands Hatch.

22nd March

Clarky at Silverstone
Clarky started the season with a strong 6th position. Well that would of been the case if an errant Mini did not change things causing severe damage to Paul's rear suspension. At the End of the race Paul finished a credible 20th place.

9th March

Second in class on Snetterton Stages
Despite having far too much fun spending most of their time sideways, the rally team embarrassed lots of Escorts and finished the event second in class. Successful shakedown complete, the team now looks toward the Pirelli International Rally.

With only four days in the garage between events, the team changed half the gearbox and the crank after significant damage was found to these components. The team was relived to finally drive over the finishing podium.

The team tackled the fog-bound island with energy and emerged the other side with huge grins on their faces! Rallying return
CBM finally returned to the rally stages in anger after a year out. Anna and Neil once again entered the Snetterton Stages as a shake down for Mildred and licence upgrade for Anna. Neil, happy with modifications said "It's great fun! Despite returning to standard valve sizes, the Omex system provides as much power and a more responsive engine, while the ex-Timo brakes mean we can stop on a sixpence!". Although the team suffered a few small teething problems during the day, the car finished 3rd in class/30th overall and was kept on the road by the valiant efforts of Simon Maxted, Clem Burgess, Andy Croft, Brett Moorecroft and Craig Moorecroft.

New was similarly ambitious after a break of more than a year from circuit racing. "I am really looking forwards to getting behind the wheel again, but I have been around the anti-clockwise Rockingham Motor Speedway oval so much recently, I just hope that I remember to turn right!" said Neil.
